When a message board, SlipStream BBS closed it's doors for good, some members decided to build a new BBS, run by them, run how they had wanted the original run. Because the logo used on the old site was probably copyrighted, a new one was needed. When I heard, I went about designing one myself. I showed my design to the administrators, and they directed me until we had the logo they were looking for.

The logo used on the original site.

This is the first logo I designed, it's loosely based on the one used on the original site. As you can see, I carried on the ideas of the beam running through the middle and the electricity. This first logo came out just right, so I didn't make any other designs, but it did need refining into how the admins and members wanted their final logo.

The BBS was only just being put together and it was at this point that the word "Underground" was added to the title. I was asked to add it to the logo. These are two attempts. The first was liked, but it's difficult to read, the two words are hard to distinguish from eachother. The second is also nice, but having the words running down the beam instead of above and below it was prefered.

Although the other ideas were liked, the administrators wanted to try out some more before choosing the final one. He asked me to move the word "Underground" to a couple of different poisitions. The word became more separated from "Slipstream" and we settled on having it aligned to the right.
The final design. It's not incredibly different from the very first version, but I'd like to think that just means it was quite good to begin with.

And as it looked on the site:
