As well as producing graphics for the projects I've dedicated pages to, I've also designed single logos and symbols for other websites. Here are a few examples starting with the most recent.
These, as you can see; were designed for System17.com. I was asked by the webmaster to design a new logo or update the original. Using the idea of circuits or lighting effects was also mentioned. I thought the original logo was quite cool, so I decided to modify it, making it more cohesive and adding some kind of effects around the text. The pulses of light are intended to drag the eye along the words and evoke an idea of energy and power surging through. I ended up developing a grid pattern in the background which I thought was reminiscient of lasers, hence the change in colour.
Here you can see the development of some logos I designed for a website about the science fiction show Star Trek: Enterprise. I began with a simple format using publicity photos and the font used in the main titles of the series. I added a few styling elements such as the 22nd Century computer displays and glow effects and the webmaster was happy. The background and the shots of the crew were swapable, so a selection of logos based on the general format could be used. Each time the site was loaded a different set of the show's characters, or a different scene would appear along with the familiar text. Unfortunately, to my knowledge the site no longer exists. Come to think of it, neither does the series.
These are logos I designed for another more or less defunct website, although they weren't used. The EFCL website is a message board forum and these would have gone at the top of every page, so I tried to make them visually stimulating, but at the same time blend in a little. Obviously you want it to be clear to people what the name of the site is, but at the same time no one wants a huge flashy logo distracting them. The grey/blue and white were the main colours used on the site.
PK.net is actually short for Partksing.net. Yes, that Partsking.net. But Partsking was a bit of a mouthfull, so it was shortened to PKnet. Unfortunately, another mouthful is located at .com(it's pornography, so don't go there if you're particularly young, old or have a cat allergy). So anyway, the boss needed a logo for the PK domain and I went through a few variations. I'm still not too keen on the pink backgrounds, but I liked the font so much I used it for my own logo. The PK domain isn't in use now apart from small sites like my own.
This is from around the same time as the TNB logo and it's one of the first animated GIFs I produced. The background is not of my own creation, it's from a fan made Star Trek image by The Light Works. The transportery effect is all my doing though, and I think it looks pretty good considering I didn't even have photoshop back then. The logo was made for an RPG. And you'll never guess what... it no longer exists. Seriously, it's like some kind of curse.
TNB(The New Buzz) needed a logo, so a competition was held and I won it with this. I actually prefered my other entry more, but after a hard drive meltdown I think I've lost that forever. I'm happy to report that as of writing; the website still exists and is used daily! And two or three years on this logo is still in use, although I think it demonstrates a gulf between my artistic abilities now and then.

The following are logos and banners I designed for my previous website The Denobulan's Sickbay. Starting with the most recent and going back to the first ones I made in 2002. I considered overhauling the whole site with a new design, but in the end I decided I wanted a thoroughly fresh start. And a less geeky website name. Denobulans are aliens in Star Trek, whereas John Pearses aren't in Star Trek at all.
These I must've made quite recently since the last one uses a screenshot from a movie made in 2004. I think they were a last ditch attempt at making my site look flashy.
Above: The new logos I considered using if I updated the site design.
And the original logos I used when I started the site in 2002.
