Something seemed to be missing from the first few ideas, and then I came up with this.

The warm glow was liked, but it didn't fit in with Lonaf's blue pages, so the colours were changed for the final logo.

As you can see, the website url was also added.

If you don't know... you don't want to.

And Matrix spoofs.
And recently a new stylesheet was added based on a design by Dan Hecht, I made a few forum logos and buttons for this.

By 2004 LONAF had moved away from the RPG side of things to embrace general discussion and an obsession with goats and monkeys(...). The old logos with ships and starfields didn't seem appropriate anymore, although there were still many members who enjoyed discussing cience fiction. I anticipated that there'd be a change, so I designed some new, more stylish logos.

Logos
Some experiments. As I said above, I tried to make the logo look more stylish and less science fiction-like. Although the eventual logo does have a huge stonking planet. Something was needed besides just the text and having a bright light shining behind the writing nicely mirrors how the old logo had an explosion set behind the letters.
