The Design:

This shuttle was designed by Rick Sternbach for the TNG Technical Manual, a book that describes the inner workings of the Galaxy Class Enterprise-D. The only official image that exists is the side view printed in that book as shown below. The shuttle is like a larger, bulkier version of the shuttles that were used by the crew in episodes, primary designed to transport cargo. I really like the design so a little while ago I decided to make a CGI model of it.

The Model:

The general shape is quite simple, so building the model didn't pose too many challenges. I started by box-modelling the main section, using the side view as a guide. Next came the engine nacelles, which have a vaguelly hexagonal shape. I modelled the interior components of the engines as I did with my Type 17 shuttle, this is so the engines can be "damaged" to reveal the interior(for images showing the shuttle crashed on a planet, or attacked, etc).

Next I began adding the smaller details. Thrusters, the hatches on the sides, phaser emitters, small running lights and a seam that connects the front and aft compartments. Later I added the transporter arrays.

Once most of the modelling was complete I made some textures and added an interior(modified from my other shuttle model). That's it!
